        The Nickelodeon network may be the current TV fun spot for kids, but for adults in the business world it's also the place to play. The highest-rated basic cable network since the first quarter of 1995, Nickelodeon has grown into a global empire with brand-name businesses in programming, production, consumer products, on-line services, recreation, publishing, and feature films. Nickelodeon television programming is seen in more than 72 million households in the United States and in over a hundred countries.

        Just how successful is Nickelodeon (or "Nick," in the familiar) in terms of revenues and viewer popularity? "On a scale of one to ten, we're a twelve!" boasts Scott Fishman, vice president and general manager of Nickelodeon Studios Florida in Orlando. "As a parent, I think that Nick is a safe place," he goes on, qualifying his assessment with, "It's morally within the boundaries of what you think of as a good program. Now we are in the first generation that has grown up watching Nick."

        Nickelodeon premiered in April 1979 as the only network designed especially for kids. Geared for children aged 2 to 15, the network offers a unique blend of news, variety and game shows, music, comedy, adventure and magazine shows, original and comedy series, and a lineup of original animation known collectively as Nicktoons.
