Teacher lesson plans
- After accessing the main Teacher’s Corner web page, select
from one of the seven categories listed under the Teacher’s
Guide dropdown menu. Then browse by subcategory. Each lesson
plan is tailored to a specific article and comes with learning
outcomes, key vocabulary words, activity suggestions, and
discussion questions. You may also access all of our archived
content by selecting Entire Archive, which allows you to browse
either by issue or subject.
Crossword puzzles
- The crossword puzzle is an innovative, fun reading
comprehension tool. Our Crossword Puzzle Archive includes the
complete collection of article-based puzzles posted each week
since we began this feature in July 2003. The title of each
puzzle is simply the title of the article(s) upon which it is
based. You can either print the puzzles with their clues and
fill them out by hand, or fill them out online. Enter this
section through the Crossword Puzzles banner link on the
Teacher’s Corner page. Then select from a list of our most
recently posted puzzles, or from one of the different subject
categories listed at the top of the page. To read the article or
articles associated with the puzzle, click on the link provided
under Featured Article at the top of the crossword. The article
will open in a separate window, allowing you to continue to
complete the puzzle without losing any work.
Note: The crossword puzzles in the Teacher’s Corner section are
for teachers only, as they contain the solutions and related
exercises. Please direct students to click on the Crossword
Puzzle icon in the bottom right-hand corner of our homepage.
