The shocked servant opened the door of the room and found the dead body covered with a white linen sheet.  After a few tender words to console her, he returned home and reported to his master.  He explained that the sangnom ate a cold lump of boiled rice and died suddenly.  When the saengwon realized that he could not get even a penny back, he became very depressed.

A few days later, the sangnom suddenly paid a courtesy visit to the saengwon, who was very much surprised to see him alive.  He also felt very queer and asked, “Well, I was told you had died.  How did you come here alive?”

“Yes, I was dead at that time.  However, because I was resurrected after three days, I am able to come to see you like this.”

“I have never seen anyone who was resurrected before.  I am glad to see that you have come back to life after being dead for three days.  Have you really seen the other world?”

“Of course! I have seen it with my own two eyes.  It’s not different from this world.”

“Is that right?  Explain it to me in detail.  Let me hear about the landscape of the other world.”

“Yes, I’ll tell you all about it.  As soon as I died, several wicked-looking ghost-soldiers arrested me as if I were a criminal, and took me to the ghost headquarters.  I saw that the mountains, village, houses, and people of the other world are all the same as those of this world.  When the messengers escorted me to the court, I found Yama, the judge of Hell, dressed in red clothes, sitting on a royal chair with ghost-guards.  When I walked toward Yama to receive judgment for the sins which I had committed in the human world, he looked at me carefully and said, ‘It’s not your turn to die.  You should not have been brought here.  Go back to your world again!’  Then I was on the way home again under the escort of the ghost-soldiers.  On the way back home, a certain man was surprised to see me.  He shook my hands with a happy smile.  The man was your father who died the year before last.”
