The crow answered, “I will feed you bread and yogurt, serve you milk, and sing you a sweet lullaby: Kaw! Kaw!”

The louse cried out, “Oh, no! Who will ever marry you?” And so saying, she waved her thick armlet and moved on.

On the road she met a bull.

“Louse, O Louse,” he called. “Where are you going?”

To which the louse replied, “I am off to marry another!”

The bull asked, “Will you marry me?”

And the louse, of course, asked, “How will you prove your love for me?”

The bull bellowed, “I will lead you to graze on grassy slopes and feed you grain; I will treat you to sesame fodder, and then set you on my massive horns; I will rock you gently and sing you a sweet lullaby: Dhangook! Dhangook!”

The louse said, “Oh, no! Who will ever marry you?” And so saying, she swished her silken robes and moved on.

On the road she met a goat.

Louse, O Louse,” he called. “Where are you going?”

To which the louse replied, “I am off to marry another!”

The goat asked, “Will you marry me?”

To which the louse replied, “How will you prove your love for me?”

The goat shook his head and said, “I will feed you wheat and lead you to graze on tangled brush. I will set you on my tail to swing high and easy, then sing you a sweet lullaby: Baa, baa!”
